eShakti Bow Tie Polka Dot Burnout Organza Dress, Marilyn Van Den Berg Millinery, Wittner Heels (similar style here), Spanish Earrings (similar style here).

An exciting delivery arrived at The Blonde Silhouette HQ recently; a glam garment of sorts that awaited the perfect opportunity for its first debut. In the carefully wrapped parcel sat a beautiful, delicate frock, constructed from a playful, polka dot, organza fabric. It spoke a sophisticated high neckline and a voluminous A-line skirt, with a little too much sass. I was instantly reminded of the sheer timelessness and glamour of Audrey Hepburn and knew that this dress called for suitable accessories that too spoke elegance and femininity.

Just like Miss Hepburn, I favoured a statement hat, with a brim that most would envy, from none other than Marilyn Van Den Berg Millinery. Jewellery was kept simple and chic, highlighting a pair of Spanish earrings, brought back as a gift from my parent’s recent trip to Barcelona. As for heels, I opted for a Mary-Jane style pump, demure for the ultimate day at the races.

Are you as smitten with this old-school Hollywood glamour as I am? Leave me a love note in the comments below! x

Marcs Emerald City Lace Dress, Marilyn Van den Berg Headpiece, Sachi Heels (similar style here), Swarovski Earrings (similar style here), Oroton Clutch (similar style here).

The most anticipated racing event is back, and just like last year’s OOTD, I’m favouring bold colours. Ever since I laid eyes on this elegant, emerald number by Marcs, I just knew I’de found the perfect Melbourne Cup outfit! There’s nothing I don’t love about this sophisticated piece, from the exquisite lace detailing, to the frilled sleeve detail, this frock is born to worn in the birdcage, with a glass of Moet in hand.

As for accessories, I’m channelling an opulent statement as I style my gold sequinned, Marilyn Van den Berg fascinator, with a matching glomesh clutch – otherwise an Oroton classic. Ensuring my pedicure is nothing short of perfect, I’m stepping into a pair of open toe, strappy heels by Sachi; a pair I managed to score in a Myer midseason sale.

Beauty wise, I’m letting my outfit do the talking, applying a soft palette of blush pinks to the cheeks and lips and teaming with slick, straight hair.

What are your Melbourne Cup OOTD necessities? Let me know in the comments below!

Cassandra Harper Ruffle Dress, Marilyn Van Den Berg The Black Queen Crown, Skagen Gold Watch (similar style here), Tony Bianco Heels (similar style here),  Michael Hill Ring (similar style here).

Keeping to the classics, with a spectacular silky number from local Brisbane designer, Cassandra Harper. After all, that’s what the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival is all about – classics and supporting homegrown talent! I adore this piece entirely, from it’s playful ruffled sleeves, to it’s asymmetrical hemline. Constructed from a luxe silk chiffon, this frock is lightweight and dreamy, with it’s fabric cascading gently from the tie waist.

Such a piece deserves equally opulent accessories, with none so fitting as this statement Marilyn Van Den Berg crown. I seriously feel like fashion royalty wearing this fabulous piece, perhaps it’s statement status was the reason I was issued to the FROW of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival McKinney’s Group Show. Just kidding, this Queen was born to sit FROW and feast on fashion.

Review Dress (similar style here), Marilyn Van den Berg The Red Queen Crown, Sachi Shoes (similar style here).

It’s impossible not to feel those queen vibes while wearing such a rich and opulent colour as this seductive wine shade. Branching out from their signature floral and feminine fabrics, Review are serving up a statement with this bold, geometric lace dress. Unsurprisingly this little piece sold like hotcakes and is no longer available to purchase (tear!) however there are some absolute gems amongst the new arrivals!
