There were celebrations to be had as the bloggers, stylists, photographers and fashionistas gathered to watch the final round of the 2013 Fashion Fridays at Capulet Bar yesterday. I was super excited for my three favvy Brisbane designers; Jessica Tovey with her bold self titled label, Jaye Wolfe with her vintage pretties of Fabled and True and Lexi Wittke of the classic, feminine label, Evelyn Curtis. Each of the afore mentioned labels, resonates a different tone in my fashion palette. To relate to only one of these labels and vote for one soul winner is a difficult task, as I love leather luxury items (Jessica Tovey The Label), adore floral patterns (Fabled and True) and crave floaty, feminine, structure (Evelyn Curtis).

Having missed two of the four heats, I was so impressed to see the other finalists and was wowed by the innovations of Flynn and Undral. Attending the recent Brisbane Designer Fashion Show, it was lovely to experience for the second time, the brightly coloured pieces from LIPOA Threads and the sequinned embellishment of Hoskin Designs. Finally, through a whimsical and colourful collection by I Found Lucy, I longed to be transported into a mystical wonderland, wishing I could slip on one of the super cute bow detailed pieces and escape down a rabbit hole.

I was pleased to hear that Fabled and True won the Fashion Fridays competition with Flynn receiving a prize for being the runner up. A huge congratulation goes out to all the competing labels as I have never been so impressed and inspired by emerging Brisbane Creatives.

Celebrating the last few days of Spring perfection, entails watching a garden sunset while wearing a playful, fruity hue. The only thing missing in my chilled afternoon was a pot of my favourite Turkish apple tea.

This delightful shade of tangerine offers the perfect colour blocking staple and teams beautifully with monochromatic, nude and neon accessories. A lover of the monochromatic trend – I styled a textured monochromatic patterned point for a more sophisticated Spring ensemble. Style Tip: For a more casual look, I would definitely suggest pairing this piece with a nude strappy heel and a neutral/leopard print clutch.

Aside from the vibrant colour, I love the form of this statement piece. It’s structured waist and free flowing skirt provides a flattering shape, minimising the waist and providing the perfect “hour glass” shape. Style Tip: With its high rounded neckline, this dress would be the perfect solution to those ladies with a “top heavy” frame, moreover those who are trying to de-emphasise a larger bust. In this case, I recommend leaving the neckline bare and instead accessorising with a statement earring or detailed bracelet/cuff.

As the sun sets, so too does the remaining Spring season and now, for a final farewell….

See you later Spring, I certainly have enjoyed your company. I shall continue to move forward from citrus hues to citrus flavoured gelato- let’s welcome the warm Summer weather in style!

Do you remember that iconic moment from The Wizard Of Oz, where Dorothy steps into a world of technicolour, leaving her bland black and white life behind her? This was my immediate vision walking into the Aje. Brisbane VIP launch last night, as I suddenly entered a world of colour, sequins and sparkle, sans ruby slippers of course.

I had the pleasure of wearing the Mystery Maze Dress, an exquisite sequined masterpiece with a fitted structure, high neck and finished with an organza bow detail. Chatting to the gorgeous Aje. designer Edwina Robinson, I made a comment relating my taste to that of a Magpie, as I am strongly drawn to shiny, sparkly things. Ironically, the piece I am wearing is inspired by the Australian Galah- so Edwina told me.
