It’s fashion week in Brisbane, celebrating the annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane with the creme de la creme of Australian designers and retailers. In an exciting start to the week, I attended the Myer S/S 15 show in premium seating, practically metres away from the runway and from my dream man, international supermodel, Kris Smith.

There was certainly a buzz in the air, as the models took to the runway sporting trends of summery whites, bright colours, bold prints and floating fabrics. Texture wise, there was a selection of sheer, silk, feathers, mesh, lace and neoprene on display, predicting to be on point for spring.

For the gentlemen, styling was of a playful nature, with the likes of Brent Wilson and Arthur Galan AG dressing men in floral prints, checks and fun neon colours such as burnt orange and bright blue hues.

Closing the show was a spectacular collection by Alex Perry featuring my three favourites: pink, lace and A-line skirts. This reaffirms my style mantra, being that femininity remains a predominate trend regardless of the season.

Snapping away in the photographers’ pit, was my superstar photographer, Erin Smith Photography. A totally different scene to her usual wedding repertoire, Erin delivered the goods, capturing some incredible moments and outfits that were secret to the runway. A little French Connection (@frenchconnection_au) parcel arrived at The Blonde Silhouette HQ recently, packed with key staples for the spring season. As a self-confessed girly girl, it was no surprise that I feel completely in love with the shape and fabric seen in this concertina pleated midi skirt. Soft, feminine and with a touch of bold monochromatic patterning, this skirt provides the perfect start to a fashion filled week, otherwise known as the return of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane. After all, nothing says classic like a monochromatic colour palette, pearls and touch of silver.

After years of attending my favourite Brisbane event, I’m actually working for the festival this year, using my marketing and pr expertise for the greater (fashion) good. If you’re a Brisbane fashionista attending any of the shows, you’ll no doubt see me manning the media desk or running throughout the media and photographer pits, in my 9 inch heels.

Last night, the festival kicked off with the Myer Spring Summer 15 Show, celebrating the gorgeous new collections from designers like Alex Perry, Arthur Galan, sass & bide, Jayson Brunsdon, Aurelio Costarella and more. With an appearance from Alex Perry, Arthur Galan, Gail Elliott, Charlie Brown and supermodel Kris Smith, I was in full fan-girl mode. Metallic Magic

Packing a little punch with this electric Boom Boom Pave Ring by House of Bourgeois. Move over Harry Potter, this lighting bolt statement is stirring a little magic of its own.

Like a bowerbird, I’m acquiring special pieces to help provide a little shine to an outfit, much like the Bourgeois trait, “relating to or belonging to the middle class of society : concerned about possessions or material interests.” Resonating with style psyche, I turn to House of Bourgeois for my daily fix of shiny, sparkly treasures, mixed with edgy undertones and geometric designs, otherwise the perfect combination of feminine + fierce. A handful of little black boxes have been spotted on my Instagram last week (@theblondesilhouette) and since their arrival, they have sparked much interest among my fashionista following. Underneath the black satin ribbon and perfect packaging, was an assortment of rhodium plated goodies; edgy cuffs and fierce rings by House of Bourgeois. With an eye for a trinket, I immediately feel in love with the geometric shape and ornate structure of the Cone Pave Cuff.
